Straight answers, before you commit
The questions we get asked most — about cost, timing, dust, and what happens at the estimate. No exaggerated promises.
Refinishing
Refinishing questions
Every floor is different, so we do not publish a price. Cost depends on the floor's condition, size, and scope of work. We give you a firm number at a free on-site estimate rather than a guess over the phone.
It depends on the square footage, the condition of the wood, and the finish system we agree on — including cure time between coats. We confirm the timeline at your free estimate, once we have seen the floor.
Sanding a hardwood floor makes dust. Modern sanding equipment and careful prep keep it managed, and we walk through exactly what that means for your home — protection, access, and which rooms are out of service — before the work starts.
If the wood is sound and thick enough, refinishing is almost always the better call — it reuses what you already own and costs far less than tearing out and replacing. If the floor is too thin or too damaged, we will tell you that instead.
Yes. Refinishing is the moment to change the color of a room. We sample stains directly on your sanded floor so you are choosing from the real thing in your own light, not from a brochure.
A buff and coat — also called a screen and recoat — abrades the existing finish and lays a fresh coat. If the wood underneath is sound and the finish is just dull, it costs less and takes less time than a full sanding. We will tell you honestly if that is all your floor needs.
Installation
Installation questions
Yes. We install new hardwood for homes, businesses, and new construction, and we work with homeowners, builders, and property managers across Jacksonville and Northeast Florida.
That is part of the estimate. We talk through species, plank width, grade, and finish based on your space, the light in it, and how the floor will be used.
Yes. Sanding and finishing on site levels the whole floor into one continuous surface, which is what gives a new installation its seamless look.
